Creating Digital Product Passports (DPPs) has traditionally been a time-consuming process for manufacturers. Product information is often scattered across websites, technical documentation, internal databases and different business systems.

How does it work?
Much of the information needed to create a Digital Product Passport is already publicly available.
Simply enter a product name or webpage URL, and AssetID does the heavy lifting:
Finds existing product information: Searches publicly available product information, including manufacturer webpages, technical specifications and supporting documentation.
Creates a structured Digital Product Passport: Automatically gathers and organises available product data, documentation and relevant links.
Identifies missing information: Highlights data gaps against emerging EU Digital Product Passport requirements, helping manufacturers understand what additional information may be needed.
Generates a digital passport: Creates a cloud-based product record with a shareable link and QR code.
Keeps information up to date: Manufacturers can continue adding or amending information as requirements evolve or new product data becomes available.
From 16 minutes to approximately 3 minutes
We tested the automation tool using the Robe Spiider moving head light and many products since.
By entering the manufacturer's product webpage URL, AssetID generated a structured Digital Product Passport in approximately 3 minutes, compared with approximately 16 minutes to create the equivalent record manually.
That's a reduction of more than 80% in initial creation time in our test - without needing to re-enter information already available online.

With EU Digital Product Passport requirements continuing to evolve, manufacturers don't need to wait until every regulatory detail has been finalised to begin preparing their product data.
AssetID allows manufacturers to establish a digital identity for their products today and progressively enrich their passports with additional information, including compliance documentation, repair instructions, sustainability data and product lifecycle information.
All information remains accessible through a cloud-based passport, allowing records to be updated throughout a product's lifecycle.
Automated creation provides a starting point, not automatic certification of regulatory compliance. Manufacturers remain responsible for verifying the accuracy and completeness of their product information.
