GeoTag Release Notes - January 2026
Happy New Year! This release introduces a new way to understand how much your equipment is actually being used. The new Charging & Usage Heat Map Calendar gives you a clear, day-by-day view of when equipment is powered on, helping you make better operational and lifecycle decisions with confidence.
Charging & Usage Heat Map Calendar (GeoTag)
The new calendar view shows, at a glance, how long each piece of GeoTag-embedded equipment has been powered on per day.

Powered-on time provides a reliable proxy for real-world usage of the host product. The result is a simple, visual summary of how an asset is actually being used over weeks and months. For GeoTags which are not embedded, the calendar still offers a neat visual summary of when the tracker has been recharged.
See usage patterns instantly
The heat map calendar makes it easy to spot patterns that were previously hidden in raw data, such as:
Equipment that is used heavily and consistently
Assets that are rarely powered on
Long periods where equipment remains powered in storage or racks
Gaps between active use and idle time
A colour-based calendar view allows you to understand utilisation trends at a glance, without needing to dig into reports or timelines. Instant mouse-over information gives specific detail of the number of hours the item was on external power.

Why it matters
The Charging & Usage Heat Map Calendar helps teams:
Plan maintenance and servicing based on real usage, not assumptions
Understand rental and hire utilisation more clearly
Support warranty, lifecycle, and replacement decisions
Identify under-used or over-used assets quickly
All of this is available directly within each device’s detail view, with no additional setup required.
Please note
The calendar is enabled automatically for supported GeoTag devices.
The calendar draws a specially developed estimation model, and is not an exact measurement. As a new feature, be mindful that it may contain inaccuracies, and is not precise to the minute-level. If you notice any big discrepancies please do let us know (support@tazaar.io), sharing the device name and any factual on-charge data, which we can use to improve the model.
Improved battery level display
This release also fixes a known issue where battery level was not always visible for a given GeoTag tracker. All devices should now show their last reported battery level.

What's next?
This release focuses on per-device usage visibility. Future releases will deliver device- and account-aggregated data, data exports, and may include usage-related notifications.
Let us know if there's something we could prioritise this year, to make this feature even more useful to you and your business.
