OnBio is redefining clean power for the film and events industry. Their battery energy storage systems (BESS), known as Orbs, provide reliable, zero-emission power to film sets, production trucks, and mobile facilities across the UK.

By reusing second-life Tesla batteries, OnBio turns what would otherwise be waste into portable, high-capacity power units, cutting carbon emissions and reducing the reliance on diesel generators.

The Challenge

Managing a growing fleet of mobile energy units across multiple filming locations came with its own challenges.

Orbs were often moved between sites, occasionally left behind, or misplaced during busy shoot schedules. OnBio needed a reliable, professional-grade tracking solution to help them:

• Keep tabs on their BESS units in the field

• Monitor when larger assets left site for charging

• Track delivery vans and fuel trucks in real time

• Consumer-grade trackers weren’t up to the task. The solution had to work anywhere, even in rural or low-signal areas.

OnBio installed 26 GeoTag Compact trackers across its fleet, covering everything from portable 10 kWh Orb units to the larger 300 kWh Orb 3.5 ton battery systems, plus vans and refuelling vehicles.
